Tasting notes:

Tarquin's Gin is a crisp, dry gin with lovely touches of aromatic violet, orange zest and juniper.

About the Gin:

Tarquins' Gin is made with a mix of botanicals from all over the world. Juniper from Kosovo, Coriander seeds from Bulgaria, Orange, lemon and Grapefruit zest from wherever they are in season, Polish Angelica root, Morroccan Orris root, Cinnamon from Madagascar and liquorice from Uzbekistan. And last but not least Violets from Tarquin's own garden in Devon.

To make the gin, the hand sorted botanicals are gently steeped overnight in wheat spirit before warming to distilling temperature. During eight hours or so of the distilling process, the 'heart' of the run is collected for bottling. The first and last portions ('head' and 'tails') are discarded.

The gin is then rested for several days before nosing and tasting and then hand bottling.

About the Producer:

Tarquin aims to take Gin making back to basics, making quality spirits using traditional techniques and equipment; and only the highest quality ingredients.

Their copper pot still is fired by flames and judged by eye. All their botanicals are slected by sight and feel. All their bottles are indivifually filled, corked, sealed, labled, numbered and waxed by hand.

And of course all their spirits are rigourously tested by nose and taste. Tough job!

Each batch of Gin made is only 300 bottles ensuring total quality control and care of each batch. The water used for each blending is sourced locally from Boscastle and some of the freshest in the UK.
